The Council issued a guidance statement for all midwives regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and professional responsibility in August 2021. It has also provided updated guidance regarding the mandatory vaccination order.

Support and the Midwife (September 2018)

The Council has issued a position statement on support and the role of the midwife. The Council’s position is that midwives have a duty of care at all times as a health professional with women and their families. When a midwife is with a woman in a clinical context she is always in attendance as a midwife. Midwives are encouraged to read the Council statement which can be found in the Relevant Documents section on this page.
