How to find a midwife

It is important that you receive care throughout your pregnancy.

The Midwifery Council does not employ or recommend midwives, but we do hold the Register of Midwives. You can check your midwife is registered by searching the Register at our site.  Simply type in the name of your midwife, and the Register will show if they have a current practising certificate and other information such as their qualifications and any conditions on their practice. When you look for a midwife it is important to check they hold a current practising certificate as this means they are able to legally work.

Find your midwife

The College of Midwives provides the find your midwife website which helps women choose the midwife for their care.
