Midwifery Council Cyber Security

07 December 2022

Te Tatau o Te Whare Kahu | Midwifery Council is aware of the third party cyber attack which has impacted some government departments and other Responsible Authorities. The Council uses a different database to the one that was recently attacked and works closely with the provider to make sure strong protocols are in place to ensure the integrity of its systems.

The Council treats midwifery data with great respect and will continue to do everything within its power to respect midwives privacy.

The Privacy Commissioner says it is important that people who receive or find information related to this, or any other cyberattack, do the right thing. “Do not spread it. Do not share it. Report it to the New Zealand Police. No one should contribute to its widespread dissemination. Spreading this information or profiteering from it causes anxiety and distress to victims.”
